GE Vernova has launched PlanOS, a software suite for energy planners, utilities, and regulators to support integrated system planning.
At the centre of PlanOS are four simulation engines built on a shared data architecture:
- Power Flow: Steady-state and dynamic analysis, including contingency studies, transmission planning, and interconnection analysis.
- Resource Adequacy: Assessment of system reliability under a range of conditions, incorporating weather, outages, and grid constraints.
- Production Cost: Simulation linking investment with dispatch and emissions.
- Capacity Expansion: Optimisation engine for testing policy, technology, and demand scenarios to support long-term planning.
The engines can be used together to run interconnected studies in one environment, with a unified dataset to simplify workflows and reduce analysis time.
