According to Bloomberg News, Siemens Gamesa is informing its customers that it aims to introduce a 21MW turbine by the end of the decade.
Sources reveal that the wind turbine manufacturer plans to develop its largest turbine to date, potentially reaching 21 MW in capacity. Siemens Gamesa had previously received €30 million in EU funding for the HIPPOW project (Highly Innovative Prototype of the most Powerful Offshore Wind turbine generator). The prototype of this project is planned to be installed at the National Test Centre for Large Wind Turbines in Osterild, Denmark. However, no specifics were provided regarding its size or commercialization schedule.
