Sonardyne has introduced Sprint-Nav DP, a new shallow water dynamic positioning (DP) reference system. The system combines high-grade inertial navigation with doppler velocity log (DVL) technology in a single, pre-calibrated unit, providing accurate positioning without relying on GNSS signals.
Sprint-Nav DP is designed for shallow water operations, including offshore renewable energy projects and nearshore activities where GNSS signals may be unreliable due to interference from structures. Its DVL bottom-lock technology, effective to depths of 230 metres, eliminates the need for additional sensors by using the seabed as a reference. Factory pre-calibration ensures the system is ready for use as soon as the vessel arrives on site.
