SSAB is entering into an agreement with Hexicon AB to develop far offshore platforms for wind turbines.
The combined technology will offer advantages within the market for renewable energy. Hexicon will together with SSAB optimise the steel material in the foundation of the wind platforms to ensure functionality and cost effective solutions during their complete life cycle. The floating foundations with several wind turbines enables efficient wind park configuration in locations where winds are stronger and environmental impact is reduced. A first demonstration unit is planned for Swedish waters in 2017.
