The HybridDrive from Winergy successfully completed all the prototype tests at the system level in September 2012.
Now, TÜV Rheinland verifies the properties of HybridDrive after successful certification of the components in compliance with GL 2010. On April 9, 2013 Frank Witte, Deputy Head of the Certification Office for Wind Energy Systems with TÜV Rheinland, handed over the certificate to Matthias Deicke, Winergy project manager for HybridDrive. The certified HybridDrive was developed by Winergy for a new wind turbine system belonging to W2E Wind to Energy, based in Rostock, Germany. After some delay in the project, this technology will continue to move forward as W2E Wind to Energy was able to successfully sell licenses for this turbine to other companies. It is assumed that the first 3MW wind turbine systems under license from W2E will be equipped with a HybridDrive from Winergy in the coming months.
