The Suzlon Group has unveiled its new offshore turbine, the REpower6.2M152. The new turbine features a rotor diameter of 152 metres and has a rated power of 6.15MW.
The nacelle be constructed offshore at a height of between 95 and 110 metres. The larger rotor diameter compared to the last generation – the REpower 6.2M126 (126 metres) – achieves an increase in energy yield by up to 20 per cent at wind speeds of 9.5 m/s. The company has already sold the prototype of this new turbine. Together with the customer, it has been agreed to construct the prototype with a hub height of 124 metres at an onshore site in northern Germany, with construction scheduled for completion by the end of 2014. From 2015, REpower 6.2M152 will enter commercial production.
