Esteyco, as coordinator of the WHEEL project , received the official GO response from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). This official GO indicates that CINEA has given the green light for the implementation phase of the WHEEL prototype.
This decision is based on the verification that the WHEEL project has met all required conditions at this point, including technical, economic, and permitting feasibility. It also means that the WHEEL Consortium will enter into the procurement process, expecting to build and install the WHEEL prototype by Q4 2025. Members of the WHEEL project include Plataforma Oceánica de Canarias (PLOCAN), 2B-ENERGY, Rover Grupo, IHCantabria, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg, Bridon-Bekaert The Ropes Group, Boskalis, Vicinay Sestao, REPNAVAL and Cemex. The project is funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe programme.
