Installation of all 76 turbines at the Baltic Power offshore wind farm has been completed. Poland’s first offshore wind farm is now in the commissioning and testing phase, ahead of full operation in the coming months.
The installation of the 76th and final turbine marks the completion of the largest offshore installation campaign carried out in Polish waters of the Baltic Sea. Around 7,000 people and 110 vessels were involved in the project.
Commissioning is now under way offshore, with individual turbines being connected sequentially to Poland’s national power system. Each turbine undergoes a series of tests, including a 240-hour reliability test. Once testing is completed, the turbine is handed over to the operations team.
Baltic Power comprises 76 Vestas 15 MW turbines and is being developed jointly by Orlen and Northland Power.
With a capacity of up to 1.2 GW, the wind farm is expected to generate up to 4 TWh of electricity annually once fully operational, equivalent to around 3% of Poland’s current electricity demand.
