Boskalis has been awarded a contract by Zeevonk, a joint venture between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, for the transport and offshore installation of the inter-array cable system for phase 1 of the Zeevonk offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.
The contract covers the transport and installation of approximately 149 kilometres of 66 kV inter-array cables connecting 69 wind turbines, as well as cable testing and termination and installation of cable protection systems.
The cables will be transported from the manufacturing facility in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, to the wind farm and installed using Boskalis’ cable-laying vessel BOKA Ocean. The scope also includes survey activities and seabed intervention works, for which Boskalis will deploy a subsea rock installation vessel.
Engineering activities are expected to start shortly, with offshore installation planned for 2029.
The Zeevonk offshore wind farm is located approximately 45 nautical miles northwest of IJmuiden, the Netherlands. The project is planned in two phases of approximately 1 GW each, with a total installed capacity of approximately 2 GW. Boskalis’ contract relates to phase 1, which is scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2029.
