The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has announced an approval of 837.8 million reais (US$ 477.5 million) to finance the building of ten wind power plants in Brazil's southern state of Santa Catarina.
According to the bank, the total investment has reached 1.2 billion
reais (US$ 0.7 billion), and the 148 wind turbines to be installed in
the plants will be provided by WPE, a subsidiary of the Argentine
company Impsa. The projects, with the total installed capacity of
222MW, are part of the Brazilian Growth Acceleration Program and were
approved by the Program for Investment in Alternative Sources of Energy.
