Chartwell Marine and the Cooperative Association of Japan Shipbuilders have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support the development and local construction of vessels for Japan’s offshore wind sector.
The collaboration will focus on crew transfer vessels and service operation vessels based on conceptual designs developed by Chartwell Marine. Under the agreement, the parties will work together to support Japanese shipowners, operators and shipyards during potential vessel projects and the early stages of design development.
The Cooperative Association of Japan Shipbuilders, which represents 59 shipyards in Japan, will act as a link between domestic stakeholders and Chartwell Marine, facilitating communication and knowledge exchange. The aim is to support vessels built in Japan that meet project requirements and local content rules. The agreement may also be expanded in the future to include other advanced vessel types.
