China Huaneng Group has announced that the Shandong Peninsula North L offshore wind project has been fully grid-connected. The project has an installed capacity of 504 MW and is equipped with 42 turbines rated at 12 MW each.
The wind farm is located around 70 kilometres offshore, with water depths ranging from 52 to 56 metres. According to the company, the project is the deepest commercial offshore wind installation in China. Annual electricity generation is estimated at around 1.7 TWh, equivalent to a saving of approximately 500,000 tonnes of standard coal per year.
