Deutsche Offshore Consult GmbH (DOC) actively supports Vattenfall in the construction phase of the Sandbank offshore wind farm. The project with 72 4MW Siemens turbines and a transformer platform is located about 90 kilometres off the coast of Sylt island in the German North Sea.
The DOC crew provides know-how from preparation of studies up to the first lifting operations including the optimal use of guide ropes or 3D models and storyboards for installation and lifting processes of the installation vessel. Three-dimensional models made by DOC depicting port, site and the installation vessel (MPI Adventure) as well as crane and components, improve the predictability of the project process of the Vattenfall project team.. The lifting operations are simulated in regards to the operating conditions. The Sandbank wind farm will be connected to the grid by 2017.
