Edison Mission Group (EMG), a subsidiary of Edison International, has announced that it has finalised an agreement to acquire the 161MW Wildorado Wind Ranch located in the panhandle of northern Texas.
EMG purchased the project from Cielo Wind Power, LP which will retain a minority interest. Upon completion of construction, the electricity produced by Wildorado will be sold to Southwestern Public Service, a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, under a long-term power purchase agreement. The project will include 70 turbines. Construction will begin in the spring of 2006, with commercial operations expected in early 2007.
