The French goverment has announced the second round of tenders for offshore wind farms.
The terms of the tenders were published 22 March by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CRE). The tender calls for about 200 wind turbines off the French coast with a total installed capacity of 1GW. The French government expects the tender will trigger US$ 4.5 billion in investments and provide 10,000 direct jobs. The new tender is for two wind farms. CRE will announce the winners of the tender in January 2014 and the construction and commissioning phase of the projects is scheduled for 2021-2023.
