Fugro has been awarded a contract by Oriel Windfarm to carry out a geotechnical site investigation to support the design and installation of foundations for 25 offshore wind turbines. The winter geotechnical campaign is underway following the mobilisation of the Fugro Voyager.
The vessel is equipped with Fugro’s Seadevil coring system, which is designed to recover undisturbed soil samples in complex offshore conditions. Operating in water depths of up to 33 metres, the investigation programme includes cone penetration testing, wireline geophysics and laboratory analysis at Fugro’s facility in Wallingford.
The 375 MW Oriel offshore wind farm is located off the coast of County Louth, Ireland. The project is planned to be among the country’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farms and is being developed by JERA Nex bp and ESB.
