The first wind turbines of the offshore Gemini Wind Park (the Netherlands) are now producing the park’s first sustainable energy. In the next few months, a total of 150 wind turbines will be installed.
Following the construction of the electric infrastructure last year and the installation of the turbine foundations , contractors Siemens and Van Oord will now install the remaining wind turbines. The wind turbines are transported directly from the port of Esbjerg in Denmark to the wind park. Two 110 kilometer long export cables will relay power from the wind park to the shore. The energy generated will be distributed through the TenneT high voltage grid from Eemshaven. The park is expected to be completed in 2017.
