The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) has approved the construction and operation of the Windanker offshore wind farm in the German exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea. The project, developed by Iberdrola, will be located 38 kilometres northeast of Rügen and will include 21 wind turbines with a total capacity of 300 MW.
Each turbine will have a rated capacity of 14 MW, with the potential to increase to 15 MW using PowerBoost technology. The turbines will have a rotor diameter of 236 metres and be installed on monopile foundations at depths of 41 to 46 metres. Electricity will be transmitted at 66 kilovolts to the Jasmund offshore substation, part of the Ostwind 3 project by grid operator 50Hertz.
