Yunneng has confirmed that the Yunlin offshore wind farm in Taiwan has entered full commercial operation. The 640 MW project consists of 80 grid-connected wind turbines and has received all required licences and regulatory approvals under its financing agreement.
Yunneng is a joint venture of Skyborn Renewables, TotalEnergies, Electricity Generating Public Company (EGCO Group) and Sojitz Corporation. With commercial operations starting, TotalEnergies will take responsibility for technical operations management, while Skyborn will continue to oversee other management services.
The Yunlin project is located in the Taiwan Strait, 8 to 17 kilometres off the west coast of Taiwan, at water depths of 7 to 35 metres. Covering an area of 82 square kilometres, it connects to the Taiwanese grid through two onshore substations near Taixi and Sihu in Yunlin County. Electricity from the project is supplied to Taiwan Power Company under two 20-year power purchase agreements.
