Invenergy and the Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est, a consortium of 209 municipalities and territories in Eastern Quebec, have announced the closing of financing for the Pohénégamook-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk 1 (PPAW 1) Wind Energy Centre. The total financing secured amounts to CAD 1.1 billion.
The 350 MW project is being developed as an equal partnership and was selected by Hydro-Québec in 2023 through a competitive tender. Construction is scheduled to take place during 2025 and 2026, with commercial operations expected to begin in late 2026. Invenergy and the Alliance are providing equity financing, with the remainder covered by bank credit facilities from Quebec and Canadian financial institutions.
