A joint venture between Italian companies New Developments and GR Value aim to develop two floating wind farms off the coast of Italy with a total capacity of 2GW.
Elymo is a 1,020MW floating offshore wind farm comprising 68 wind turbines in the Strait of Sicily. Apeneste is a 915MW floating offshore wind farm with 61 wind turbines in the southern Adriatic Sea. Both projects are located within Italy’s maritime exclusive economic zone. The two projects are now undergoing a preliminary environmental assessment by the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition (MiTe) and relevant harbour master's offices. New Developments is an Italian engineering company active in the renewable energy sector. Milan-based GR Value specialises in the development, construction, operation and management of renewable energy generation projects. Watson Farley & Williams has advised the New Developments on its joint venture with GR Value.
