Marco Polo Marine has entered into a framework agreement with Vestas, formalising the previously established Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in December 2022 between its Taiwan-based subsidiary, PKR Offshore, and Vestas Taiwan for the inaugural deployment of its new Commissioning Service Operations Vessel (CSOV).
The new CSOV, with a capacity for up to 110 individuals, is scheduled to be deployed across various offshore wind farms in the Asia Pacific region over three years, adhering to a minimum annual utilisation commitment. The vessel is presently in construction at Marco Polo Shipyard in Batam, Indonesia, and is anticipated to initiate operations in the East China Sea in the latter half of 2024. The 83-metre long vessel will be outfitted with a walk-to-work gangway and a 3D motion-compensated crane, as well as featuring hybrid-based energy storage systems.
