The Italy-based company Mazar Wind has requested a maritime concession for a 1.1GW floating offshore wind farm off the Sicilian coast. The project is planned to consist of 74 wind turbines with a 15MW capacity each and four 66 kV/150 kV offshore substations.
The generated power will be transferred to the onshore connection point via a 150 kV submarine cable. The floating wind farm is proposed to be built at sea, 50 kilometres off the Sicilian coast, near the municipality of Mazara del Vallo.
