Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables have completed the manufacture of 45 monopile foundations for Iberdrola’s East Anglia Three offshore wind farm in the North Sea. Production took place at the monopile facility jointly operated by the two companies at the Navantia shipyard in Fene, A Coruña, Spain. Each monopile is up to 84 metres long, weighs around 1,800 tonnes and has a diameter of 10.6 metres.
The monopiles will be installed at the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm, which forms part of the wider East Anglia offshore wind complex in United Kingdom waters. Once operational in 2026, the project is expected to have an installed capacity of 1,400 MW.
This marks the second monopile order for Iberdrola completed by the Navantia and Windar alliance.
