Between autumn 2005 and spring 2006, Nordex installed the Tortosa wind farm, its largest Spanish project to date, in the mountains close to the coast not far from the small town of Tortosa, some 200 kilometers south of Barcelona.
Now it has handed over the 37 N62 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of around 50 MW to its customer EYRA (Energía y Recursos Ambientales), a subsidiary of Spanish building company ACS. Nordex was jointly responsible together with EYRA for constructing the Tortosa wind farm. Whereas EYRA handled the road works and foundations as well as the electrical engineering, Nordex supplied and assembled the turbines and put them into operation.
