PEMA weldingplatformPemamek has received an order to supply offshore heavy tubular structure manufacturing lines to ASM Industries (ASMI). ASMI will build a new industrial production unit for offshore structures in the port of Aveiro located on the Atlantic coast of Portugal.

Worth € 29 million, the new production facilities measure 72,000 square metres, of which 22,000 square metres will be used for the manufacturing lines. The manufacturing lines include integrated milling stations for root preparation, enabling a high deposit rate and minimised defect rate, assembly stations and welding lines for circular and longitudinal welding. Each welding line utilises Pemamek’s control system and laser seam tracking through which production and quality control data can be collected. Additionally, Pemamek will deliver material handling for surface treatment lines. The entire delivery enables ASMI to manufacture offshore wind turbine towers and foundations, as well as transition pieces, monopiles and pin piles. The new manufacturing system starts operation in March 2019.
