PensionDanmark, PFA, and Andel are developing the world's first energy island, called VindØ. The consortium has released a video illustrating its plan to build an artificial energy island in Denmark's North Sea.
The artificial island will be built in the Danish part of the North Sea, around 100 km from land. The island is going to be ready by 2030, at the latest, and have 3GW offshore wind connected. Eventually, the island would connect 10GW offshore wind and host energy storage and power-to-x as well as accommodation, O&M facilities, and HVDC converters for transmission and interconnectors.
