RES has submitted an application to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit for its proposed 14-turbine Blair Hill Wind Farm. The development, located 2.7 km north of Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway, could generate enough electricity to power more than 115,000 homes annually if approved.
As part of the proposal, RES has committed to a community benefit package valued at over £23 million over the project’s operational lifetime. To provide further information, RES is holding two drop-in sessions where the public can view the submitted plans.
The planning submission follows a community consultation programme, which included public events in Newton Stewart, Wigtown, and Kirkcowan in October 2023 and May 2024. Additionally, a Community Liaison Group was established to facilitate communication between RES, local residents, and stakeholders.
