Seawind Asia has received official grid connection agreements in the Philippines for three offshore wind projects: Frontera Bay (450 MW), Guimaras Strait (600 MW) and Guimaras Strait 2 (600 MW). These are among the first grid connection agreements issued for offshore wind farms in the Philippines, marking a step forward for the country’s offshore wind sector.
The projects are being developed by Seawind Asia through Sea Wind Management in Hamburg, in partnership with Triconti ECC in Manila and Stream Invest Holding in Switzerland. The portfolio is in advanced preparation for participation in the fifth Green Energy Auction in the Philippines, scheduled to take place later this year. The Green Energy Auction programme is designed to allocate renewable energy capacity through a competitive process. Seawind Asia and its partners will continue development work in the run-up to the auction, with the aim of progressing the projects towards construction, subject to auction outcomes and permitting.
