Texas Christian University (TCU) is partnering with FPL Energy LLC and Oxford University on a research initiative to study the ecological and socio-economic impacts of wind power development.
The research will be coordinated by TCU's Institute for Environmental Studies in Fort Worth and the United Kingdom's Oxford University's Environmental Change Institute, known for its analysis of lower carbon futures and climate change. The five-year research effort will be funded by Florida-based FPL Energy. The research initiative will focus on three primary areas, including wind turbine impact on birds and bats; wind turbine ecological impacts; and socio-economic impacts of wind projects.
