Total Eren has announced the kick-off of the studies for the development of a large-scale green hydrogen Project called H2 Magallanes totalling up to 10GW of wind installed capacity to be located near the borough of San Gregorio, in the Magallanes region, Southern Chile.
The H2 Magallanes Project will consist of up to 10 GW of wind installed capacity coupled with up to 8 GW of electrolysis capacity, a desalination plant, an ammonia (NH3) plant, and port facilities to transport the green ammonia to national and international markets. The objective is to conduct studies in order to launch the project in 2025, aiming to produce hydrogen by 2027. Total Eren and the University of Magallanes will collaborate on the elaboration of the Project’s Stakeholder Engagement Plan in accordance with the best practices defined by the standards guide of the Chilean Ministry of Energy.
