The US Department of the Interior has announced a settlement agreement with Duke Energy regarding an offshore wind lease in the Carolina Long Bay area in the USA. Under the agreement, US Department of the Interior and Duke Energy will see the early-stage offshore wind lease terminated.
The lease had a reported value of US$ 129 million. As part of the settlement, Duke Energy will reinvest an amount equivalent to the lease value in additional generation capacity and grid-related infrastructure. This may include new nuclear and natural gas generation projects, as well as grid enhancement work.
