Vattenfall has signed a long-term power purchasing agreement (PPA) for renewable electricity from the new upgraded Zeewolde wind farm in the Netherlands. Until the end of 2021, 220 existing wind turbines will be replaced by 91 larger and more powerful turbines which will produce more than 850 GWh every year.

According to the agreement, Vattenfall will purchase power from 83 of the new turbines with an installed capacity of more than 300 MW. Zeewolde wind farm is owned by more than 200 farmers, residents and entrepreneurs from the outskirts of Zeewolde. Together they form the largest farmers / civil wind collective in Europe. The repowering work to exchange the existing wind turbines by more powerful turbines will start at the end of 2019 and is expected to last until the end of 2021.
