A U.S. District Court has ruled that Vineyard Wind may resume full activities in its lease area on the Outer Continental Shelf off Massachusetts. On 15 January 2026, Vineyard Wind filed a legal challenge against a suspension order issued by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on 22 December 2025. The court has now stayed the suspension order while the legal process continues.
Vineyard Wind said it will continue discussions with the federal administration to clarify the issues raised in the order. The company will also work with contractors, government bodies and other stakeholders to restart activities safely while continuing development of the offshore wind project supplying electricity to the New England region.
