Ten years of the latest technological developments

The new event WindEnergy Hamburg, which came to a close on Friday 26 September after four exhibition days at the Hamburg site, had a good start. The new fair demonstrated its international character; more than 33,000 visitors from all parts of the world were there, getting information on the latest products and services from 1,250 exhibitors from 33 nations. A third of the visitors were from outside Germany, including 24 delegations from 22 countries. The Windtech International team attended the event as well, and on page 22 you can find our review of the fair. We also obtained plenty of inspiration for future articles and in this issue we present an article about dynamic rotor geometry measurement, a concept we spotted in Hamburg. Dynamic rotor geometry measurement (DRGM), developed by windcomp between 2008 and 2010, is a method for the verification of the aerodynamic condition and the aeroelastic behaviour of a wind turbine rotor and the turbine tower system. On page 7 you can read the full article about it.

Windtech International releases Media Planner 2015
Looking ahead is important. Why not include Windtech International in your promotional activities to ensure you reach a truly international readership? Windtech International is the only worldwide magazine for the wind energy industry with a technological focus and is the ideal forum for the promotion and explanation of products, techniques and applications. Because of our technical focus we serve a slightly different readership compared to other general wind industry publications and many engineers do read Windtech International on a regular basis. For 2015 we have prepared a Media Planner containing dates of magazine issues, and copy guidelines/deadlines for contributors, circulation, advertising possibilities, etc. Feel free to contact me to receive the 2015 Media Planner.

Ten years of Windtech International
With this November/December issue Windtech International is celebrating its tenth anniversary. In November 2004 we presented Windtech International for the first time at EWEA 2004, which was organised in London, UK. Since then a lot has changed. The industry has become more mature and is now a multi-billion industry, many new innovations have been introduced, and the industry has become more professional and faced economic ups and downs. In the past ten years we have strived, as far as possible, to cover new and innovative technologies in our magazine and based on the responses from you, our readers, you appreciate our efforts in doing this. At this special time, as always, I would like to thank all our supporters, staff, editors, authors, advertisers and, of course, readers, for your help and support. Without you all Windtech International could not be as successful as it is after ten years. Let’s start working towards the next ten years!

Enjoy reading,
