Fugro has relocated its Halifax operations to COVE, located on Halifax Harbour. COVE is a marine technology hub that brings together companies, research organisations, government bodies and service providers to support the development and deployment of ocean technologies. The site provides access to deepwater infrastructure and facilities for applied ocean science, testing and offshore operations.
At the new location, Fugro will expand its use of remote and autonomous technologies suited to Atlantic Canada’s coastal and offshore conditions. These methods aim to reduce offshore exposure for personnel and lower the environmental footprint of operations, while maintaining the delivery of marine geodata for safety-critical activities.
Activities include seafloor mapping and subsea inspection surveys using uncrewed surface vessels and electric remotely operated vehicles. Fugro will also carry out water column and coastal mapping using its Rapid Airborne Multibeam Mapping System, which can be deployed from crewed aircraft or uncrewed aerial systems.
