Vattenfall increased its underlying operating profit in the first nine months of 2026, supported by stronger overall financial performance despite a weaker third quarter. During the quarter, the company secured tenders for two offshore wind projects in Denmark and began offshore construction of the Nordlicht I wind farm in Germany.
For January to September, underlying operating profit rose by 21% to SEK 25,945 million, compared with SEK 21,470 million in the same period of 2025. Operating profit increased by 85% to SEK 33,058 million, while profit for the period rose by 90% to SEK 24,838 million.
However, underlying operating profit for July to September fell by 38% to SEK 3,813 million. Vattenfall attributed the weaker quarterly performance to nuclear power outages and a lower hydrological balance. Operating profit increased by 24% to SEK 4,198 million, while profit for the period decreased by 42% to SEK 1,309 million.
In Denmark, Vattenfall won the tenders for the Hesselø offshore wind project, with a capacity of 800 MW, and the North Sea I Mid project, with a capacity of 1 GW.
In Germany, offshore construction began at the Nordlicht I wind farm in the North Sea, which has a planned capacity of 1 GW. Vattenfall also took the final investment decision for a battery project in Brunsbüttel, Germany, with a power output of 254 MW and storage capacity of 1,000 MWh.
