The results show an increase of 69% in turnover with respect to the same period in 2006, reaching € 656 million.
EBITDA rose to € 74 million, a 33% increase compared to Q1 2006. Sales of the unit involved in the manufacturing of wind generators came to € 557 million, up 57% on those obtained from January through to March 2006. Contributing to this growth are the positive trends in sales in China and particularly the USA, where 26% of the total of 485MW of wind energy installed in the first three months of the year was assembled, against 3% in 2006. The new production plants in these key Gamesa markets have raised their production capacity by 33%, while improving their productivity. 21% of the nacelles and 20% of the blades manufactured by Gamesa between January and March of this year were produced outside Spain.
