Global Offshore Wind Alliance and Carbon Trust call for coordinated action on floating offshore wind commercialisation

The Global Offshore Wind Alliance and Carbon Trust have published a white paper urging stronger international policy coordination to accelerate the commercialisation of floating offshore wind technology. The report states that fixed-bottom offshore wind alone will not be sufficient to meet projected global electricity demand, which is expected to double by 2050. With around 70% of offshore wind resources located in deeper waters, floating offshore wind is presented as a necessary complement to existing fixed-bottom installations.

Exus Renewables to acquire majority stake in Masdar wind portfolio in Portugal

Exus Renewables has signed an agreement with Masdar to acquire a 60 per cent stake in a portfolio of nine onshore wind farms in Portugal. Masdar will retain the remaining 40 per cent interest. The portfolio is located in the Guarda and Castelo Branco regions and is undergoing a large-scale repowering programme.
WavEC releases open-source ORIOM tool for offshore renewables

A review by the Sun Day Campaign of newly released data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration shows that wind power remained the leading renewable source of electricity in the USA in 2025. Wind turbines supplied 10.3 per cent of total USA electricity generation during the year, up 2.8 per cent compared with 2024. In December alone, wind output was 19 per cent higher than a year earlier.
