Jan De Nul Group launched the Voltaire, an offshore jack-up installation vessel for offshore renewables and decommissioning, at the COSCO Shipping Shipyard in Nantong, China.
The Voltaire is due for delivery in H2 2022. Designed in-house, Voltaire is built to transport, lift and install offshore wind turbines, transition pieces and foundations. The main crane has a capacity of over 3,000 tonnes. Four legs of 130 metres each support the vessel to achieve stable working conditions at water depths of up to 80 meters and with an elevated load of 16,000 tonnes. When the vessel is ready, her first assignment will be the construction of the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank offshore wind farm in the UK.
