Mark Offshore adds rv Mintis subsea support vessel to fleet for offshore wind and survey workMark Offshore has reached an agreement with Klaipėda University to operate the research vessel r/v Mintis. Under the agreement, Klaipėda University has appointed Mark Offshore as commercial and operational manager for activities in the renewables and energy sectors. Originally designed as a scientific research vessel, r/v Mintis combines research capabilities with offshore functionality, providing a platform suitable for both survey and subsea support work.

The vessel is a 40-metre DP1 catamaran built in 2014. It features a central moonpool between the twin hulls and a midship A-frame for the deployment of subsea equipment. The onboard laboratory can be converted into a remotely operated vehicle control room, while the aft deck includes a 14-ton safe working load A-frame and winch systems.

With a four-point mooring system and shallow draft, the vessel is suited to nearshore and shallow water projects, including offshore wind site investigations. It provides around 120 square metres of free deck space for project equipment and containerised systems.

The vessel is also equipped with a wet laboratory and survey systems, including multibeam echo sounder and sub-bottom profiling equipment, and can accommodate up to 17 personnel. Connectivity is provided via Starlink, with a 5G backup.
