Windward Offshore has officially named its commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) Windward Munich in Hamburg. Built by VARD Vung Tau in Vietnam, Windward Munich is the third vessel in the Windward Offshore fleet and the first of two vessels in the fleet equipped with a helicopter landing deck. It follows Windward Athens, delivered in September 2025, and Windward Paris, delivered in January 2026. Both entered charter shortly after delivery.
The naming ceremony took place at the Überseebrücke in Hamburg, with the Elbphilharmonie as a backdrop. Speakers included Dr Melanie Leonhard, Hamburg’s Minister for Economy, Labour and Innovation, and Sven Utermöhlen, CEO of RWE Offshore Wind, alongside representatives of Windward Offshore. Claudia Haindl acted as godmother and formally named the vessel.
Around 200 guests attended a reception on board following the ceremony. Guided tours of the vessel were also held on the afternoon of the ceremony and the following day, covering its technical equipment and accommodation areas.
With the delivery of Windward Hamburg in August, Windward Offshore has taken delivery of four CSOVs within 12 months. Windward Hamburg is currently en route to Europe and is expected to enter service after arrival.
