Wood Thilsted and COP Frontier, a sister company of Copenhagen Offshore Partners, have launched Neretek, a company focused on offshore wind foundation technology. Jonathan Cole has been appointed Executive Chair of Neretek and will lead the development of the company.
Neretek is developing the Neretek BC90™ foundation technology, designed for offshore wind projects in water depths of 60–90 metres. The technology aims to extend the use of fixed-bottom foundations into deeper waters by combining aspects of monopile designs with solutions for transitional depth sites.
The company said the technology is intended to support deployment in the UK’s emerging Other Deepwater Offshore Wind (ODOW) category by providing an alternative foundation solution for deeper fixed-bottom offshore wind projects.
