The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) has announced that Crown Estate Scotland has joined its Offshore Wind Research and Innovation (R&I) Programme as a public sector sponsor. The programme, operated by EMEC, aims to advance innovation in offshore wind by addressing key technical and supply chain challenges. It supports developers and technology providers through targeted innovation calls seeking practical solutions to improve delivery efficiency and reduce project risks.
Crown Estate Scotland supports the growth of offshore wind, tidal and wave energy through sustainable management and leasing of the seabed. The organisation works with industry to identify shared priorities and help deliver initiatives that contribute to the UK’s net-zero goals.
By joining the Offshore Wind R&I Programme, Crown Estate Scotland will help shape future innovation priorities and gain insight into new technologies. Its participation will contribute to tackling sector-wide challenges such as workforce development, local supply chain engagement and environmental performance, while promoting collaboration across the industry.
