The announcement of winners for regional offshore wind contracts in New England, originally expected on August 7, has been delayed. Officials in Massachusetts have decided to postpone the decision by one month to assess the impact of a recent federal grant.

This grant, allocated to New England states, will support the development of regional onshore transmission infrastructure for offshore wind projects.

Massachusetts and Rhode Island had publicly scheduled their announcements for August 7. Connecticut did not provide a specific date, indicating only that it planned to announce winners sometime in the third quarter. The three states have now collectively decided to delay the awards announcement until on or about September 6th.

Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are seeking to purchase up to 6,800 megawatts of power collectively. These states have collaborated to request bids from developers. The successful projects will be constructed in the designated offshore wind area located south of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
