The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) projects that renewable energy sources will contribute one-quarter of the nation's electricity generation in 2025.
This growth is driven by increased adoption of wind, solar, and battery storage technologies. The EIA also anticipates a rise in electricity demand, particularly in the industrial sector, with expected growth of 2% in 2025 and 3% in 2026, as new semiconductor and battery manufacturing operations commence. In the commercial sector, a 2% increase in demand is projected for both 2025 and 2026, largely due to the expansion of data centers.
