US Secretary Deb Haaland has unveiled a new offshore wind leasing schedule spanning five years, featuring up to 12 potential lease sales through 2028.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is set to conduct future offshore wind energy lease sales in the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, Pacific, and offshore waters of US territories within this timeframe. The schedule outlines four potential offshore lease sales in 2024, with one each in 2025 and 2026, followed by two in 2027, and concluding with four in 2028. The new offshore wind energy leasing plan includes the following sales over the next five years:
