GE has announced the acquisition of tower technology from Wind Tower Systems, LLC (WTS) that is expected to enable taller wind turbine towers. WTS has been working on the development of the space frame tower system technology for use at wind farm sites that require hub heights of 100 meters or more.

GL Garrad Hassan has developed a wind resource map of Great Britain as part of its global resource mapping range. The maps use Mesoscale Compressible Community (MC2) modelling results applied to a microscale flow model in order to predict wind speeds at hub heights of 50 m and 80 m, at 100 m resolution, and are used by individual developers and larger industrial clients.

Brevini Wind Germany has shipped its first 3MW wind main gearbox prototype to WinWinD. The 35 tons gearbox was tested and assembled in the German facility of Brevini Wind in Bad Homburg.
