Beam has deployed an autonomous underwater vehicle driven by artificial intelligence (AI) to inspect jacket structures at the Seagreen offshore wind farm in Scotland.

This AI technology can perform complex underwater tasks without human intervention. Moving away from remote operation and streaming data directly back to shore allows offshore workers to focus on more complex aspects of their roles. This AI-driven method also has the potential to reduce inspection timelines by up to 50%. Additionally, the technology provides improved inspection data quality and enables 3D reconstruction of assets alongside visual data.

The Seagreen wind farm is a joint venture partnership between SSE Renewables, TotalEnergies, and PTTEP.
