eologix-ping has announced an expansion of its product portfolio to include lightning detection systems. The new products, Add-On Xweather, :analyzer lightning and :conductor lightning, offer tailored solutions that address different operational needs.
The Add-On Xweather is a new upgrade to the existing :event lightning product, developed in cooperation with the US company Vaisala Xweather. This software upgrade integrates data from the GLD360 and the National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN), offering wind turbine operators insight into lightning events. The system provides information such as signal strength, polarity, event type, distance, and rise time. Thanks to integration with :event lightning, it enables alert notifications and prioritised inspections, allowing for a rapid response to any potential impact from lightning strikes.
The :analyzer lightning solution provides in-depth analysis of direct lightning strikes. This system meets the class 1 standards of IEC 61400-24/AMD1 ED2, ensuring that it detects and reports all critical lightning parameters.
:conductor lightning detects interruptions in lightning conductors by measuring atmospheric charge differences between blades and the hub. It also provides accurate precipitation warnings, enabling the turbine control system to adjust blade speed and reduce wear.
